A driver was ejected from his vehicle and fatally injured last night in a single vehicle accident on the Eastex Freeway. For reasons unknown, the silver-colored Honda Ridgeline pickup truck left the roadway around 11:45 p.m. on the Eastex Freeway near Keeland, striking some signs and poles before beginning to roll over. The crashed pickup came to rest on the feeder road; the driver died at the scene.
A single vehicle accident on Long Drive in Houston early this morning claimed the life of a passenger traveling in the vehicle. The red-colored Ford SUV left the roadway on Long Drive near the 610 Loop and struck a power pole, causing the pole to break and fall on top of the flipped vehicle. It took 20 minutes for emergency crews to remove the power line and get to the driver and passenger: the passenger died on the scene. Police think excessive speed and alcohol were likely factors in the accident.
A one vehicle accident on the South 610 Loop in Houston has claimed the life of a young girl believed to be around three years old. An SUV was driving in the westbound lanes of the S. Loop around 2:30 p.m. Friday near Telephone Road when the vehicle entered a grassy median causing the driver to over-correct sending the vehicle into a roll. The little girl was ejected and died at the scene. The man driving was rushed to the hospital. Police believe speeding was a primary cause of the wreck and are checking to see if alcohol was involved. Detectives have yet to determine if the girl was properly restrained in a car seat. A person was killed in a collision between a UPS truck and a passenger SUV yesterday. The silver-colored SUV and UPS truck crashed around 4:00 p.m. on FM 529 near Jackrabbit Road in northwest Harris County. The name of the person who died has not yet been released. The SUV rolled over in the crash: detective say it appears on of the drivers tried to turn and was hit by the other driver. A photograph from Channel 2’s web site (see below) appears to show passenger side front corner damage to the UPS truck.

At around 4:00 a.m. this morning a single vehicle rollover accident resulted in the driver’s death. Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies say a man was speeding in a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he reached a curve in the road in the 2900 block of Fallbrook and began a sideways slide. The vehicle hit the median and rolled several times across the eastbound lanes, coming to rest in a wooded area. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
