Box truck crushes cars on Blue Bell Road in Houston, TX

Two drivers are lucky to have survived a four vehicle accident the afternoon of Thursday March 23, 2017.

According to Channel 13 News, a flatbed hauling some pipe was traveling the 600 block of Blue Bell Road when it struck the rear of a large white box truck, causing the box truck to make an out-of-control turn and topple over onto two passenger cars. The box truck partially crushed a gold colored Honda and a dark-colored Cadillac behind it. Accident witness Mr. Cruz Hernandez told Channel 13 that a female existed the Honda bleeding from her head, and the Cadillac driver was up and moving after the crash.

Both were taken to the hospital to be checked out. The box truck driver wasn’t hurt in the crash, and the driver of the flatbed truck who cause the accident is going to be issued a citation for failure to control speed.

18 wheeler accident on Highway 290 kills two

Two people were killed on US 290 in Houston this morning when an 18-wheeler crashed into a stalled vehicle.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 1997 Ford Probe broke down in the right lane of the westbound lanes near Mason. A 32-year old woman who had been driving the Ford Probe got out and tried to signal to the approaching big rig without success. The big rig and the Ford Probe caught fire, killing the big rig driver and a male occupant of the Ford Probe.

Edson Alanis Manzano fatally struck by 18 wheeler on Highway 146, Bacliff, TX

20-year old landscape worker Edson Alanis Manzano was fatally struck by an out-of-control 18-wheeler as he worked alongside Highway 146 in Bacliff, Texas. The accident happened Monday June 30th as Edson was trimming back weeds at Highway 146 and FM 646. The big rig, pulling a tanker trailer, veered off the roadway on its way from La Porte to Texas City, striking Edson. Witness Jacob Cortez, who saw the accident, said he thought perhaps the driver had fallen asleep, and said that when the driver exited the truck after the accident the driver looked stunned. Edson was working for a company called BIO Landscape and performing a contract for the Texas Department of Transportation.

The driver, 55-year old Glendall Bickwenhert from Kentucky, was cooperating with the police investigation. The 18-wheeler is owned by Indiana-based Time Dedicated DC Carriers, whose U.S. Dept of Transportation profile states the company operates 45 trucks.

Galveston teens killed in accident with Republic Services gargage truck

16-year old Christopher Ragle and 16-year old Gabriella Giles, both students of Ball High School in Galveston, were tragically killed this morning when their pickup truck collided with a Republic Services garbage truck on Stewart Road near 84th Street shortly before 7:00 a.m. The Galveston Daily News web site has detailed coverage of this tragic accident.

Grocery Supply Company 18 wheeler in accident on Almeda Genoa Road in Houston

Emergency responders were working hard this morning to free the driver of a sedan that became wedged under the trailer of a Grocery Supply Company 18-wheeler. The collision happened around 6:00 a.m. this morning as the big rig pulled out of a gas station parking lot onto Almeda-Genoa Road a few blocks to the west of Highway 288.

Fed-Ex 18 wheeler in fatal crash on I-45 South near Conroe

Five vehicles, including a Fed-Ex 18-wheeler, were involved in a fatal crash this morning around 5:24 a.m. on southbound Interstate 45 just north of Conroe, Texas. At least one person died in the accident which shut down the freeway and had traffic backed up for nearly four miles into Willis, Texas.

Tahoe and 18-wheeler collide on Interstate 45 North in Houston

An 18-wheeler and a Chevy Tahoe SUV collided in an accident this morning on the North Freeway (Interstate 45 North) near Tidwell around 4:30 a.m.  Three of the four travel lanes were blocked due to the accident, and police closed all lanes to remove the 18-wheeler.  One person in the SUV was injured and transported to hospital.

Pickup driver chooses Rocky Road, crashes into ice cream shop

The driver of a pickup truck crashed through the plate glass window in front of the El Kiosko ice cream shop in a strip mall at Louetta and Stuebner Airline this afternoon. A photograph on Channel 2’s web page showed significant damage to the front of the store, but no word on whether anyone was injured in the accident.

18-wheeler accident on I-10 East, woman rescued by bystanders

Investigators say a 26-year old woman was speeding down Interstate 10 East around 3:30 a.m. Saturday near Magnolia when she crashed into another car. The car that was struck ended up coming to rest against the concrete center divider and the speeding car came to a stop in the middle of the freeway. An approaching 18-wheeler couldn’t stop in time and struck the woman’s car causing it to burst into flames. Some witnesses rushed to the woman’s rescue to attempt to remove her from the vehicle, including Calvin Rutledge. The woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition with burns on 15% of her body. Driver killed in Hardy Toll Road truck accident

A concrete ready-mix truck experienced a tire blow out on the Hardy Toll Road yesterday causing the truck to strike the retaining wall and roll over. The driver of the concrete truck died at the scene. After the collision the truck caught fire. All main southbound lanes of the Hardy at Aldine Mail Route were shut down. Channel 2’s story.
