18-wheeler accident on Gulf Freeway involving METRO bus

The morning commute ground to a halt today due to a three vehicle accident.  According to KHOU, an 18-wheeler rear ended a small car, causing the car to spin out and collide with a METRO bus.  The accident happened around 7:08 a.m. on the Gulf Freeway southbound near the exit for Monroe Road. The driver of the car was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Toyota passengers killed in collision with 18 wheeler on I-10 near Beaumont

A 24-year old woman from Austin and a 57-year old man from San Antonio were killed this morning in a crash on Interstate 10 westbound near Beaumont.  At around 4:30 a.m. a 2013 Toyota sedan crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler that was carrying concrete powder.  The man and the woman who died were passengers riding in the Toyota according to Channel 11; the driver of the Toyota was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital to undergo surgery. Names have not been released, but the driver is reported to be a 21-year old man from San Antonio; Troopers think the Toyota driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.  The 57-year old driver of the 18-wheeler was under observation at the hospital: he is from the Houston area. An investigation of the accident is ongoing.

18 wheeler accident on Highway 290 causes chemical spill

An 18-wheeler tanker truck overturned yesterday evening around 9:15 p.m. spilling 5,000 gallons of chemical onto the roadway and closing westbound 290 at Mueschke Road. A nearby restaurant and gas station were evacuated as a precaution and two Harris County Deputies were treated for exposure at the scene. Apparently a passenger vehicle was also involved, though exactly how the accident happened isn’t apparent from media reports. Channel 13 News said nobody was injured in the wreck.

Lumvouris Webb, wife, son victims of 18 wheeler wreck in Texarkana

Tragedy struck a Houston family this weekend: three lives were lost in an 18-wheeler accident on Interstate 30 in Texarkana, Arkansas.  According to news reports for Houston’s Channel 11 and Channel 13, the victims were Lumvouris Webb (43), his son Q’Xnstian Marcell Webb (7) and wife Charlotte Williams Webb (52). Media accounts state the family were stopped in traffic at 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning for an accident up ahead when their vehicle was struck from behind by a big rig driven by 22-year old Johnathan Woodell.  A woman in a third vehicle was also injured. The Webb family vehicle burst into flames, all were pronounced dead at the scene. Lumvouris Webb is survived by at least one son, Lumvouris Webb, Jr. who is an Airman in the United States Navy. God bless them, and those they leave behind.

Concrete truck and pickup collide on FM 1942 killing one

The driver of a pickup truck was killed Monday morning in a collision with a concrete truck at the intersection of FM 1942 and Bohemian Hall Road in Houston. The collision happened around 10:50 a.m. Police say the pickup driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and a female passenger was transported to the emergency room at Memorial Hermann. The concrete truck driver was also transported with minor injuries.  Images from Channel 11 News‘ helicopter footage show the concrete truck came to rest in the opposing lane of traffic. According to Channel 2’s news coverage, the cause of the accident was the pickup truck driver’s failure to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign.  Channel 2 reports that the female passenger was life-flighted, and lost her right arm in the accident.

Tanker truck accident on North 610 Loop at Kirkpatrick exit

A major accident slowed the morning commute today on the Houston North 610 Loop eastbound near the Kirkpatrick exit.  The exact facts of the accident are not known at this time, but at least two vehicles were involved: a tanker truck and a silver-colored Buick sedan.  When the vehicles came to rest, the silver Buick had been spun 180 degrees and forced up onto the concrete center divider.  It is unknown if their were any injuries.

Fiery dump truck accident on Gulf Freeway at Dixie Farm Road

Channel 11 is reporting a traffic alert for a multi-vehicle accident on the southbound Gulf Freeway near Dixie Farm Road in Houston. All southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway are blocked; the northbound lanes have all but ground to a halt because of rubbernecking. The crash happened just before 6:00 a.m.; one vehicle rolled in the crash, and Channel 11 reports its helicopter footage showed a dump truck behind a crushed vehicle that was on fire.

A report from Channel 13 posted just before 7:00 a.m. states law enforcement has confirmed one fatality from this wreck.

18-wheeler accident on Katy Freeway at Grand Parkway

The Houston Chronicle is reporting a fatal 18-wheeler accident that happened this morning around 2:00 a.m. on the Katy Freeway (I-10) westbound near the Grand Parkway. Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and a cause of the accident was not included in the Chronicle’s report. Three feeder road lanes near the wreck were closed as emergency responders worked the scene. Channel 11 Houston’s story states that the driver who died was a woman driving a gold-colored Buick sedan; the Buick struck the rear of the big rig’s trailer at an intersection on the service road.

18 wheeler accident on Aldine Bender kills one

There isn’t much by way of detail but Channel 13 is reporting a fatal 18 wheeler accident last night on Aldine Bender at the Hardy Toll Road. A car crashed with an 18-wheeler and the cab of the truck burst into flames. The driver of the 18-wheeler sustained minor injuries, but there were at least three people in the car and one of them died. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

18-wheeler and cement truck collide in accident on Spring Cypress

An 18-wheeler and a dump truck came to blows this morning at the intersection of Spring Cypress and Cutten in northwest Harris County.  All lanes were shut down on the two roads as crews worked to clear the badly damaged vehicles.  According to KHOU there were no reports of any injuries from the accident, which while good news is highly surprising given the 18-wheeler was knocked over onto its side and the cab of the cement truck was destroyed.
