Several cars that were facing westbound on FM 1960 in Spring were stopped at a traffic light at Cypress Station around 12:20 a.m. Saturday morning when an SUV slammed into the rear of an older model Cadillac waiting in line. The Cadillac was shoved forward into the vehicle in front of it, then the Cadillac sideswiped a fourth vehicle. Reportedly the SUV flipped over onto its side and the driver had to be extracted by rescue crews: the was transported by Life Flight in critical condition. A man and a woman in the Cadillac were taken to hospital in serious but stable condition. Two men in the red-colored vehicle that the Cadillac was pushed into were treated at the scene but were arrested when deputies found a large amount of marijuana in their vehicle. Around 2:30 a.m. a dark-colored Ford F-series pickup truck was traveling west on FM 1960 in Atascocita, occupied by four male teenagers. As they approached the intersection of Timber Forest a Toyota Camry pulled out of a shopping center parking lot, turning in front of the pickup truck and causing a collision. There were four passengers in the Camry, two male and two female. One of the Camry’s male passengers, identified in a local news report as Colby Fitzgerald, died at the accident scene. The other passengers were transported to area hospitals, two of them by life flight helicopter. Nobody in the pickup truck was injured in the accident according to Channel 11’s report, but the 18-year old driver of the pickup was charged with driving while intoxicated. Despite Colby Fitzgerald’s death in the accident, the pickup driver will probably not be charged with intoxication manslaughter because the accident is not considered to be his fault. Two Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies were injured in a car accident January 1, 2013. HCSO said the accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of FM 1960 and Veterans Memorial. The deputies were on their way to join a vehicle pursuit when a citizen made an illegal u-turn, colliding with the police car and flipping it over. One of the deputies was temporarily trapped. Channel 2 is reporting that a HPD officer was injured in a car accident around 5:00 a.m. this morning at the intersection of Beltway 8 and South Post Oak. The officer was responding to an emergency call to assist another officer with lights and siren activated when another driver hit the officer’s car. The car driven by the other person caught fire a few blocks from where the accident happened and the driver fled the scene on foot. Houston Police Department said the officer suffered minor injuries. Hopefully she will recover soon and be back to work.

A driver was killed in a Wednesday morning collision with a Waller Independent School District bus. The accident happened around 6:20 a.m. on FM 2920 at Becker Road west of Tomball. A green-colored sedan, possibly a Honda Accord, rear-ended the school bus as the bus was stopped to collect some children at their stop. The sedan went beneath the rear of the school bus: the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The children on the bus and the driver were not hurt.

A single vehicle accident early this morning has left one man dead, another injured, and the driver is facing drunk driving charges. Houston police say that the driver of the blue-colored sedan missed a curve striking a fence at the Willowbrook Mall at Tomball Parkway around 3:30 this morning. Three men were in the car, one of the passengers was declared dead at the scene. The second passenger was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Police detained the driver and planned to charge him with intoxication manslaughter. Officers say the driver refused a field sobriety test but did admit that he had been drinking, so he was transported to the hospital for a mandatory blood draw.
