Two 18-wheelers crash on Highway 149 in Pinehurst – driver injured

FOX News is reporting a major accident on State Highway 149 in Pinehurst, Texas involving two 18-wheeler trucks. The highway was shut down in both directions near Millhouse Road in southwest Montgomery County as crews worked to clear the wreckage.  The accident was reported around 9:00am this morning. A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety told FOX that an 18-wheeler lost a load of large timber logs, then another big-rig heading in the opposite direction crashed into the logs, causing that big-rig to leave the highway and crash, injuring the driver. That injured driver was transported via life flight to the hospital in unknown condition. The trailer carrying the logs lost its rear axle and wheels, and the other truck that struck the logs sustained heavy damage to the cab and cargo areas, spilling its cardboard box cargo onto the highway.

Hopefully the driver of the 18-wheeler that left the roadway is going to be okay.  If you have been injured in an 18-wheeler accident, do not risk damaging your claim by going it alone. Smith & Hassler’s experienced personal injury attorneys can be reached 24/7.

18-wheeler accident on I-10 near Taylor – big rig overturns

The Katy Freeway (I-10) outbound lanes were shut down today for an extended period after an accident near Taylor at around 1:45pm. According to Channel 2’s report, investigators say a car swerved to avoid a collision with another car: one of those cars ended up under an 18-wheeler that was stranded by the roadside. A second 18-wheeler driving down the freeway ended up overturning and blocking all but one lane of the freeway. Three people involved in the accident were injured and taken to hospital, but their specific condition wasn’t mentioned.

Trius Trucking 18-wheeler involved in accident at I-10 and Shepherd

All lanes of Interstate 10 eastbound were closed today for nearly four hours due to a multi-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler. Westbound traffic on I-10 was down to a single lane. The 18-wheeler overturned in the roadway, partially blocking one westbound lane, and fuel was spilled on the eastbound side. Two people involved in the accident where hurt, according to the Houston Chronicle’s report, and were transported to area hospital. The location of the accident was Interstate 10 near the Shepherd exit, which is a couple of miles from Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital. It rained heavily throughout the Houston are much of the day, though it is not known was role weather conditions played in the 18-wheeler accident, if any.
According to a report on KHOU’s web site, the 18-wheeler driver lost control near the Shepherd exit and jumped the center median, then collided with an eastbound vehicle, injuring the woman driving and sending her to the hospital (reportedly with non-life threatening injuries, thank goodness). From the media photographs, it appears the vehicle struck was a silver-colored Toyota Corolla. The 18-wheeler driver told police that another driver cut him off and he swerved, causing him to lose control. The 18-wheeler appears to belong to Trius Trucking, based out of Fowler, California.
