Million Zeghergis charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter

31-year old Ethiopian national Million Zeghergis is facing four counts of intoxication manslaughter after a two vehicle collision in Alief. HCSO deputies responded to the intersection of Synott and Beechnut at 10:00 p.m. for a collision between a limousine company van and a Honda Civic. Devendraprasad Patel, driver of the Civic, and three rear seat passengers were killed in the collision. A female passenger in the Civic survived the crash. Zeghergis’ bond has been set at $400,000. Prosecutors stated his blood alcohol content was .107 more than three hours after the accident. What appears to be Zeghergis’ Facebook page states he is self-employed and is from Asmara, Eritrea.

Update: a story posted to Channel 2’s web site states Zerghergis was issued a Houston cab driver’s license May of last year. The vehicle he was driving at the time of the fatal crash was a 2009 Dodge with the phone number and logo of the Champion Town Car Company. The driver of the Honda, Devendraprasad Patel, was killed, along with three passengers: Kokila Patel, Ansuyaben Patel and Jayanthilal Bhatt.

Precinct 4 officer, wrecker driver, injured by suspected drunk driver

A driver was arrested after crashing into a Precinct 4 deputy’s patrol car around 2:00 a.m. this morning. The collision happened near Sam Houston Parkway North and Antoine Drive as officers were responding to a vehicle fire. A car went around a blockade and smashed into the rear of the patrol car, hitting a deputy and a wrecker driver. The deputy and wrecker driver were taken to hospital in stable condition, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk.

Kevin Wade Wilson charged in fatal Galveston sea wall car accident

49-year old Kevin Wade Wilson is facing serious charges after a fatal collision with pedestrians along Galveston’s sea wall. Around 7:13 a.m. Sunday morning, Wilson’s red-colored Ford pickup truck struck two pedestrians before going over the sea wall. 62-year old Raphael Flajole, in from Lake Orion, Michigan to visit family in Galveston, was killed in the collision. The other pedestrian, 48-year old Shane Sabala, was rushed to the hospital where we was listed as serious but stable condition. According to law enforcement, Wilson was on probation for a narcotics charge; an investigation to determine whether Wilson was intoxicated is underway.

Blisha Marrie Puga charged in fatal drunk driving accident

35-year old Pasadena resident Blisha Marrie Puga, pictured below, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter for a fatal car accident 5:15 a.m. Sunday. The wreck happened in the northbound lanes of Houston’s Gulf Freeway near Broadway Street. KHOU’s report says witnesses saw Puga’s Saab swerve and hit a Ford Taurus ; a woman in the Taurus was pronounced dead at the scene, and Puga admitted to police that she had been drinking before the crash. A person of the same name was arrested in late 2012 by Houston Police Department and charged with driver’s license and auto insurance offenses.

Drunk 18 wheeler driver causes fatal accident on Beechnut Street in Houston

Police say a drunken 18-wheeler driver is responsible for a fatal accident just before 11:00 p.m. Sunday night. Police say the big rig was heading westbound on Beechnut Street and made a left turn onto Cook Road while the light was red. A Chevrolet Tahoe SUV that was heading through the intersection collided with the 18-wheeler; the male driver in his 40’s or 50’s was rushed to the hospital where he later died. Camaro speeding on Highway 290 rear-ends SUV

Police are saying that excessive speed and possibly alcohol were factors in a major collision on Highway 290 (a.k.a. Northwest Freeway) this morning. A woman driving a Chevy Camaro rear-ended a blue-colored SUV near the 43rd Street exit, and the impact caused the SUV to roll over. Two passengers in the SUV, a blue-colored Dodge Nitro, were taken to hospital in stable condition; the driver of the Camaro was transported in critical condition.  If the Camaro driver is found to have been legally intoxicated at the time of the crash, she will likely be charged with intoxication assault. Suspected drunk driver runs red light in Pasadena killing two

Pasadena law enforcement believe a driver was intoxicated when he ran a red light late Monday night, striking another vehicle and killing two people.  The crash happened as the man drove his pickup southbound on Allen Genoa Road around 11:00 p.m.; he disregarded the red light at the intersection of Fairmont Parkway and t-boned another vehicle.  A passenger in the t-boned vehicle died at the accident scene; the driver was transported to the hospital and died there.  The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital.  A picture from Channel 2’s story appears to show a severely damage dark gray colored car.

Mercedes passenger killed in Houston’s first fatal accident of 2014

Police say a Chevrolet pickup truck was speeding, and the driver’s alcohol consumption may have been a factor, in the first fatal accident of 2014 in Houston.  Police say the pickup truck ran a red light at the intersection of Pierce Street and Milam Street in downtown Houston around 1:00 a.m., crashing into the passenger side of a white Mercedes sedan.  A husband and wife were traveling in the Mercedes: the husband was killed in the accident, the wife transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Read Channel 2’s report here.

Motorcyclist killed on Katy Freeway by wrong way driver

A motorcyclist was killed in an accident caused by a wrong way driver who police believe was driving drunk. The accident happened around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday November 30th on the Katy Freeway (I-10). The woman driving the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was arrested on intoxication manslaughter charges. Channel 2 News’ story states the driver’s name and victim’s name has not been released; a photograph on Channel 2’s web site shows a red motorcycle and what appears to be an older model Nissan Maxima.  Harris County public records show that the only female charged with intoxication manslaughter in Harris County within the past 48 hours appears to be an individual named Ashley Tran of Houston, Texas.  The same public records indicate Ms. Tran is currently in Harris County Jail and her bond has been set at $30,000.

Alleged drunk driver causes fatal crash on Bammel North Houston Road

A lady was killed early this morning in a two car accident on Bammel N. Houston Road, and police say the driver responsible for the accident was driving drunk.  Harris County Sheriff’s told Channel 11 News that a man driving a Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Bammel N. Houston Road near Kleinbrook Drive around 1:30 a.m. when he rad a red light and smashed into a woman driving a Nissan Maxima.  The woman in the Maxima died at the scene, and the alleged drunk driver was transported to hospital in stable condition.  The driver of the Honda has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
