Woman thrown from 610 Loop overpass after car rear-ended

A 29-year old woman was tragically killed Wednesday morning when she was struck by her own vehicle and thrown from a 610 West Loop overpass.

The woman’s Hyundai Tucson SUV stalled in the southbound lane of of the West Loop South at Highway 59. She put her hood up, and as she was inspecting the engine bay of her vehicle another vehicle had to swerve to avoid the Hyundai. A gray-colored Lexus IS250 traveling behind the swerving vehicle was unable to react in time and struck the back of the Hyundai, forcing it forward into the 29-year old woman. She was thrown off the side of the freeway and into an embankment, and pronounced dead at the scene. No charges are expected.

Red light runner causes major car accident at Hempstead and 43rd Street

A red light runner caused a major collision last night at the intersection of Hempstead Highway and 43rd Street, injuring two people. Police said one vehicle with a male driver was heading northbound on Hempstead Highway when the driver disregarded a red light at 43rd Street, striking the side of a minivan. The collision was severe enough to flip the minivan over and through it into a ditch, trapping the driver. Fire fighters cut the roof off the minivan to free the lady driver. Both drivers were transported to the hospital and are expected to survive their injures.

Pickup hit by 18 wheeler in accident on FM 529

The driver of the red pickup truck shown below was taken from an accident scene yesterday via life flight helicopter. The collision between the pickup truck and the 18-wheeler occurred on FM 529 at Greenhouse Road in northwest Harris County at around 2:45 p.m. June 17th.

Emergency responders were working hard this morning to free the driver of a sedan that became wedged under the trailer of a Grocery Supply Company 18-wheeler. The collision happened around 6:00 a.m. this morning as the big rig pulled out of a gas station parking lot onto Almeda-Genoa Road a few blocks to the west of Highway 288.

Fatal 2 vehicle accident at Aldine Mail Route and Landfair

A man was killed in a 2-vehicle collision in north Houston around 8:15 p.m. June 1, 2014. KHOU reports that a pickup truck heading east on Aldine Mail Route crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit an SUV nearly head-on. A family of five in the SUV reportedly were not injured; the driver of the pickup truck was dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating whether the pickup driver suffered a medical event, causing him to crash.

Blisha Marrie Puga charged in fatal drunk driving accident

35-year old Pasadena resident Blisha Marrie Puga, pictured below, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter for a fatal car accident 5:15 a.m. Sunday. The wreck happened in the northbound lanes of Houston’s Gulf Freeway near Broadway Street. KHOU’s report says witnesses saw Puga’s Saab swerve and hit a Ford Taurus ; a woman in the Taurus was pronounced dead at the scene, and Puga admitted to police that she had been drinking before the crash. A person of the same name was arrested in late 2012 by Houston Police Department and charged with driver’s license and auto insurance offenses.

Rollover car accident outside Wal-Mart on Tidwell in Houston

A two vehicle collision occurred around 9:00 p.m. last night when an SUV pulling out of the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store on Tidwell in Houston was struck by a car. The SUV flipped over, trapping the driver who was rescued by emergency services. The driver of the SUV was transported to the emergency room and the two folks in the car were treated at the scene. Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Drunk 18 wheeler driver causes fatal accident on Beechnut Street in Houston

Police say a drunken 18-wheeler driver is responsible for a fatal accident just before 11:00 p.m. Sunday night. Police say the big rig was heading westbound on Beechnut Street and made a left turn onto Cook Road while the light was red. A Chevrolet Tahoe SUV that was heading through the intersection collided with the 18-wheeler; the male driver in his 40’s or 50’s was rushed to the hospital where he later died. Danny Sandoval charged with DWI after fatal crash on 610 Loop in Houston

24-year old Danny Sandoval has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated in connection with a fatal crash on Houston’s East 610 Loop.  The wreck happened around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday March 22nd.  A 23-year old woman driving a Honda Civic northbound struck a concrete wall, after which the Honda went back into the travel lanes.  Danny Sandoval’s Jeep Wrangler then struck the Honda, killing the woman driving and injuring a 23-year old male passenger in the Honda.  Sandoval, who was not injured in the collision, was questioned and then arrested.
