The woman driving the Smart car was found laying in the roadway in the southbound lanes of US 59 having apparently been ejected out of the rear of the vehicle. The lady driving the Smart car was last listed as being in critical condition at Memorial Hermann in Houston.

Fatal car accident on Highway 290 at Antoine

A car accident on Highway 290 at Antoine around 3:30 a.m. involved one fatality. Two vehicles were involved, a dark-colored sedan and a mid-size SUV that appears to be a Toyota Forerunner. Channel 13’s report from the scene indicated someone was ejected from one vehicle, though which vehicle wasn’t clear. From the damage to the vehicles it appears the car rear ended the SUV causing the Toyota to spin out, however police are still investigating. All westbound lanes of Highway 290 were closed to traffic as police worked the accident scene.

SUV rollover on S 610 Loop ejects girl, killing her

A one vehicle accident on the South 610 Loop in Houston has claimed the life of a young girl believed to be around three years old.  An SUV was driving in the westbound lanes of the S. Loop around 2:30 p.m. Friday near Telephone Road when the vehicle entered a grassy median causing the driver to over-correct sending the vehicle into a roll. The little girl was ejected and died at the scene. The man driving was rushed to the hospital. Police believe speeding was a primary cause of the wreck and are checking to see if alcohol was involved. Detectives have yet to determine if the girl was properly restrained in a car seat. Channel 2 report here.

Woman ejected after accident with 18-wheeler on Interstate 10 westbound

An 18-wheeler accident shut down westbound I-10 around 3:40 a.m. this morning after a big rig crashed into a passenger vehicle sending the injured driver to Memorial Hermann in the Medical Center by LifeFlight helicopter. Details of the woman’s injuries were not in the Houston Chronicle’s article. All westbound lanes were temporarily closed as workers cleared the accident scene. The cause of the crash is being investigated. What appears to be a reference to the same accident on Channel 11’s web site says a total of three vehicles were involved. A story on Channel 13’s web site (it seems to be about the same accident) says a woman in her 20’s may have made contact with an 18-wheeler, causing her car to go out of control and strike a barrier: the collision with the barrier was apparently severe because even though she was properly belted, the seat belt failed and the woman was ejected. The story says the woman’s injuries include a broken leg and injuries to her chest.

That impact caused the Malibu to flip over onto its side, ejecting the driver. Child ejected in possible DWI accident on I-45 in Conroe

A serious auto accident on Interstate 45 in Conroe yesterday caused a child to be ejected. The accident happened just before 6:00pm on the section of I-45 between Wilson Road and Texas 105. Conroe Police Department say that a Dodge Dakota pickup truck was pulling a bass boat heading southbound on I-45. The trailer started jumping, possibly because of a tire failure, and the driver lost control. The pickup truck struck a Ford Explorer SUV traveling next to it, slicing the Explorer‘s tire, flipping it over. There were two adults and a child in the Explorer: according to investigators the child was not restrained in a child seat and was ejected when the Explorer came to rest upside down. The child landed more than 80 feet away and suffered fractured ribs and a head injury and was life-flighted to Memorial Hermann Hospital – The Woodlands. The driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated and could face a charge of intoxication assault due to the serious injuries caused. The accident remains under investigation. Channel 13’s report can be read here and refers to the injured child as a toddler and as being female. Channel 2 News’ coverage of the accident is here, and describes the child as being a 7-year old boy.
